On May 25, 2012 the Statistical Agency conducted a round table discussion of "Assessment of gender statistics in social protection".

 On May 25, 2012 the Statistical Agency within “Gender and Democratic Governance in Development: Delivering Services for Women” Project conducted a round table discussion of "Assessment of gender statistics in social protection".

The experts of the Statistical Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan involved in social statistics conducted the round table.

Mrs. Mukhammadieva B.Z., the Director of the Statistical Agency, and Mrs. Sharipova L., the Minister of Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, opened the meeting and explained the goals and objectives of the statistical offices in gender policy.

The round table was attended by experts of the Service for supervision of labor, employment and social protection; the state agency for social protection, employment and migration; the state agency for social insurance and pensions; the state service of medical and social assessment; the department of social protection of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection; representatives of "UN Women", UNICEF, Public Fund "Panorama", and etc.

Budnikova E.V. – the Head of the Department of Social Statistics of the Statistical Agency made a presentation on the assessment of the available statistics regarding the access to social protection, especially by women and children, progress and difficulties in data collection.

Particular emphasis was made on the regular monitoring of trends in social protection, which is important for the development of effective policies and assessment of their impact on vulnerable groups.

Comments were made regarding the necessity to obtain the data on sex and age of the subpopulation stayed at hospitals; the data on number of children with full state support; the data on the number of women receiving maternity benefits; the recipients of social assistance on the spa treatment of groups which have benefits; the number of persons receiving compensation; the payments and the amounts of compensatory payments for pupils aged 7-15 from low income families and others.

The workshop participants presented their comments and suggestions on improving coordination of the experts involved in or responsible for data collection on gender statistics and made recommendations on the revision of existing reporting forms based on gender perspective, the provision of electronic reporting, and avoiding duplication of indicators.
